hi i found this web site after seaching for my medication 'citilopram'. I am an anxiety suffer, but cannot pin point exactly when this started, its been at least 4 years and more. I always learnt to live with anxiety, the constant butterflies eating away inside, the skipping heart beats, the panic attacks which pysically had my fingers bending backwards and the most horrendous dreams (which today i am still getting) not to mention the dizzy spells.
The cause of it? God only knows. Maybe because i was bullied throughout school, maybe its genetic as im not the only person in the family with it. I dont know.
im now on tablets trying to control the way i am, i come across as confident but really when i see people i dont know i want to turn and hide, walk the other way.
Does anyone else relate to this? would be intresting to hear from anyone else's experiences.

Welcome aboard, Spanky.

Have you discussed with your GP any chance of therapy or consultation with a specialist in order to try and solve the problem at its roots?

Meanwhile, take comfort here; I'm sure you will find this site a help.

Hi Spanky

Welcome to NMP! I have suffered panic and anxiety for a number of years in fact 21 to be precise.

I too am on the same medication as you. There are no hard and fast rules with this problem and no one can tell you where it comes from and why?? thats a question we all ask ourselves, but from reading the forum and talking to others you will soon find that there are ways to overcome these terrible attacks and phobias and for many people there is already a light at the end of the tunnel.

Feel free to PM anytime

Take care

Hi spanky,

Welcome to the forum, you will get a lot of good advice here and make some new friends.

I can totally relate with how you feel I used to be a very confident person, until my anxiety hit, I can hide it well and I now hide behind my sunglasess when I am out, come rain or shine, so that I don't have to 'face' people. I think if they cant look me in the eye then they wont see I am anxious. [:I]

Take care

Hello and welcome, :)

I can totally relate to what you said - I suffer with dizziness badly and also come across as confident to others, even when mid-panic!

I hope you find the site useful
