Germs?

I know this is probably quite silly... but I just wondered how likely it is that I could get ill from touching my face with dirty hands? By dirty I mean not freshly washed, and have touched other items... and by face I just mean nose, cheeks, forehead etc. I never touch in my eyes, nose or mouth with dirty hands - always washed. I was just worried that perhaps germs could somehow work their way into my mouth etc and get me ill?

Things like flu, stomach upsets and eye infections can be transmitted from the hands, but if you never touch your mouth, nose or eyes except with just washed hands then you would be very unlikely to catch anything this way.
