Has anyone had more than one breast cyst at the same time? I went to the breast clinic today and had an ultrasound scan and I have some very tiny cysts (too small to aspirate) in my left breast. The consultant said they are very common and nothing to worry about but I am still scared, can someone please reaasure me

Hi Laura,

I don't know how to reassure you directly, but I found a cyst a couple of days ago. Went to the docs, got it all checked out and it appears to be fine. Got a follow up appointment to double check it, just incase.
So I know how scared you must be feeling. But please try to remember that if there was ANYTHING wrong or worrying, the ultrasound scan would have picked it up there and then. And hey, give those scans some credit - they're really advanced and amazing - they can be used for all sorts of things, from picking up fingerprints to picking up things related to DNA. Amazing.
Also try and believe the consultant, after all it's a specialist job and it's their job and speciality to know about breasts! They know more things about breasts than many people and if they happened to see anything worrying, wrong or unclear, they would've done something immediately about it, hunni.

You just gotta keep telling yourself all these things and you'll start to believe it and have more faith in your diagnosis. Remember: Don't google! Worst thing you could ever do.

Let us all know how you're getting on; if there's any other way in which I could help, please say and I'll try my darn hardest.

Please take care,

Lots of cuddles,

Hi, My Mum had breast cancer so as you can imagine, if I feel anything at all I'm straight to the doctor.

A few years ago I did feel several lumps in both breasts. Doctor sent me for an ultrasound straight away. They found I had several cysts in both breasts but nothing sinister. The consultant also said they are very common and advised Evening Primrose oil for 3 months to see if it made any difference. I still take it now and it seems to have helped stop any more developing.

You'll be fine, if there was any hint that the lumps were anything other than benign, there is no way they would not investigate further.

I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your replies

I guess I am also scared as the radiologist and the breast consultant were talking as they were doing the scan and they focused on an area which didnt look like a solid lump or a cyst it looked to me like other bits of breast tissue but bigger and when they were discussing it the consultant said it looked like air. Is it possible to get air in the breast? I am quite confused. When I went back to the clinic after the ultrasound the only thing that was mentioned was the samll group of cysts. I had a benign breast lump removed from that same breast near the same area 9 months ago, could the air they were taking about be the cavaity left from the lump removal?
I think i'll get a copy of the report sent to me.

Thanks

Yep. I have that right now actually. 3 in my right breast. Other than the occasional pain, not a big deal.

Sue, just out of interest, and sharing my experience. Evening primrose oil did seem to result in having a couple of good months without cysts, or at least not aware of them. But unfortunately I had a hideous migraine after taking EPO, and all night I kept thinking about gross images (insects /worms etc) and then my head would start. A doctor in the past has told me that can be part of migraine, but it felt like some sort of purging type thing and I did wonder if it was part of the healing process, lol. I've not taken it since though. Perhaps I should give it one more chance.
