View Full Version : CBT starting Monday!

I have had quite a low couple of days, the pollen has been really bad and my mouth and throat have been constantly itchy which hasn't helped my anxiety and phobia of allergic reactions. On top of that my anxiety is making my mouth ridiculously dry, anyone else get this? what do you do to relieve it? i keep chewing gum but this dries up too eventually.

i went back to the doctors who is going to usher along my consultant on the health side of things. so that is something decent. the other thing is i have my first cbt session on monday!! i am so excited and looking forward to it. i also have another acupuncture session monday so hopefully should be a good day.

the doctor also wants me to go on either fluoxetine or citalopram. i am eager to avoid meds if i can so im hoping starting CBT will get me on my way to recovery.

Hi Allergyphobia,

Good luck with the appointments and cbt tomorrow. I agree, see how the cbt goes before trying the meds.

thanks for your reply andrew. have had a really bad weekend but eager to try CBT and hopefully that will give me the direction I need... i don't think masking things will help me really, i need to get to the bottom of things. :(

Hi Allergyphobia,

You're welcome. I did not take the medication route myself, it would have created work issues as well as I had no believe it was definately going to work. Anyway my anxieties got better, it can be done. Dry mouth is a common anxiety reaction, keep yourself well hydrated.
