What does a heart Palpitation feel like?

I am not sure if I am experiencing them, and was wondering what it feels like and why i may get them. Also how do you stop them? Thanks.

feels like your heart beating out of your chest, wierd sensation. I find a little cough stops them xx

Hi Decius,

When I was having palps all the time, it felt like a butterfly almost flapping its wings inside my body and i would feel the beat, beat, pause hard beat kind of thing. It is very odd for sure but harmless. I very rarely get them now but if I feel a couple, as anxious says, a cough seems to make it better.
