Is it normal to get chest pains AND ectopic beats?? (mine feel like flutters and quick beats, like double ones really fast, they r so scary)

Does anyone feel like their heart is heavy or pertruding from their chest? My heart feels like this ALL THE TIME. If i slouch on the sofa or lean forward slightly it feels like im squashing my heart, its slightly under my left breast and to the side of it too (next to sternum). To date no1 has said theyve felt this kinda thing before so im very worried as its not going away, ive had it before but it went away after a few weeks, but now im getting chest pains and ectopics with it, so i cant help but think SOMETHING IS UP that isnt getting noticed.

Ive had loads of ECG's in past 5 months, but last 1 was about a month ago now. I think i need a SCAN of my heart, not just ECG's....

Helpppp :( xx

when i say pertruding from chest, i dont mean like pounding or anything, i mean it feels like theres something pushing out from my chest all the time, its always there, my heart rate is normal. i cant lean forward without feeling this weird thing under my breast...

An ECG detects the pattern of your heart beats, including the skipped beats and flutters and tells the cardiologist how your heart is beating. Remember that this is a cardiologist not a GP, they are specialists in one thing only and they are trained to read these heart patterns and they know what they're looking for. If he tells you your missed beats and flutters are nothing serious please believe him.

A heart scan looks at the size and shape of your heart, it can pick up an enlarged heart or a diseased heart...as can an ECG. A heart scan is usually only done if either the cardiologist thinks its necessary or you are paying privately and insist on it.

Ive suffered with ectopics for many years and had numerous ECGs...all negative. Finally after 30 years ive accepted that my heart is ok and now I live life as full as I can in spite of all the wasted worrying years. Don't do it. Don't waste more time on this. Heart flutters are very uncomfortable but benign, and usually happen in response to stress. Take meds for this if you feel it necessary, although some people see taking meds as saying there's something wrong but this doesn't mean its anything serious, just that you want to feel more comfortable in the same way as migraine sufferers take meds to relieve the pain.

Please listen to Anna. The last 4 months of my life have been spent worrying incessantly over my heart. Even though the full blown panic attacks are gone, many of my fears and strange sensations are still there. Just so you know, in the beginning I had the EXACT same sensations as you, coupled with a reluctance to believe my doctor when he told me that my ECG's looked fine and everything was ok. If ANYTHING was wrong with your heart, I GUARANTEE you that the ECG's would have picked it up. Taking a low dose of a beta blocker can help get rid of the ectopic beats, but keep in mind it's still a crutch.
