Hello Everyone,

I have suffered from panic attacks and fear of vomitting for as long as I can remember, first one I think was age 5 or 6 at primary school when i had to sit in the hall with the hole school, I sudenly felt sick and started to panic so got up and asked the teacher if I could leave the hall because I didn't feel well. That was over 30years ago and I am still running from those feelings. But have managed to have four great children and have tried to lead a semi normal life. I still avoid crowds, public places, shops,....school halls! etc. Unless there is a toilet close by in case I am sick, which I never am but that never takes that feeling of panic away the next time, its just the same old story time and time again. At the moment I am doing well, have a great partner who supports me loads and doesn't put pressure on me. starting to rejoint the land of the living and have tried to get out and be as calm and relexed as possible, I have finally come to realise that to get better I have to face this head on and am determined I will get better no matter how long it takes me.

Hi Beth

Welcome to the forum.

You might like to have a read of the First Steps (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/default.asp?t=cms&c=firststeps) and Symptoms (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/default.asp?t=cms&c=symptoms) information.

Have you had any therapy for this?

Welcome along Beth,

I have just this minute been reading Tammy's post in the success stories section.

Its kind of appopriate as an incident with a 5 year old got her through a sickness fear yesterday.

Therapy is available to beat phobias, and can be very effective.

Hi Beth,

I have this too. As Ray said I just posted about something that happened today, might be worth a read.

Hope it helps to read something positive. I know how hard it is when you are just starting out and think nothing will ever change. I have had it for as long as I remember so was much the same. After being here and doing some self help things I have realised this isn't the case.

Hey Beh

Well done for deciding to do something to get over this . You are right in your presumptions that you need to face it head on

hello!!

i think we can all safely say that no one is alone in this forum! I remember having to sit right at the door in exams from fear of being sick all over my paper.....of course it never happened but its human nature to avoid things we are fearful of.....and the only way to conquer the fear is to deal with it head on!! I love this site...what a great platform to be heard!!!
