I saw the ENT specialist yesterday as I have been complaining of dizziness & balance issues amongst many other things for quite a few months now, he took all my history & had a quick look in my ears & got me doing a few tests with my eyes closed, walking on spot, etc
He has requested a hearing test, pressure test, another test but I can't remember what it was & a caloric stimulation test (where they put water into your ears) apparently it can be pretty awful and make you feel sick but I was just wondering if anyone here had this test done & if they could give me a bit more information on what to expect & how I may feel as I am absolutely dreading it.

Thanks.

I saw ENT doc few days ago too. Dizziness, balance problems, hearing loss in one ear (im 22!), and popping/pulling sensations in my ear. He done all the same tests as you too, walking on spot etc. I had an audiogram (hearing test), and a pressure test, hearing was below normal 4 times, and i had complete negative pressure in my right ear. He said i most probably have glue ear, due to numerous untreated ear infections and fluid build-up over the years (ive suffered with ear problems for at least 14 years). So he prescribed me some steroid spray, and im going back in 3 months. If its still bad, they are arranging an MRI scan. although i had a ct scan a while back for dizziness and all was clear so im not too worried about tumours or anything like that, i just think i have alot of thiuck fluid in my middle ear. My eardrum in my right ear doesnt move atall, so someothings not right. Good luck to you, and maybe we shoudl keep eachother updated! :) x

PS. Had water test, its nothing to worry about atall, utterley painless, just feels really weird lol. But nothing untoward. x I also had air test, where strong air is blowed into ear, that was weird too lol, but again, not painful. dont worry xx

Thank you very much crazyhayz, it's much appreciated.
I'm so worried about these tests making the dizziness & balance worse as I stupidly googled at people had said the room spins, they throw up & feel really rough with it.
Don't want to have it done really but need answers, my family really suffer with their ears, mum is deaf in one ear after her eardrum burst, aunt is deaf in one ear for same reason & had to have mastoidectomy, I have funny shape ear canals apparently & my daughter is always suffering with ear ache too and her canal is very narrow.
My family have been very generous with all that they have passed on what with the anxiety as well, lol

Sorry not been on for few days, I'm up & down, some days I feel reasonably ok & other days I feel awful, going through a lot of stress at the moment though as we've just sold our house so in the process of getting packed up & finding another place to live, struggling with my eldest sons behaviour as well as my husbands health problems so they are not helping at all.
I've constantly got a sore throat & feel like I'm drunk & not all there sometimes like really spaced out (I don't drink at all now & felt like it before I started my meds) & the heavy pressure & tight feeling in my chest is driving me insane.
Sorry I'm replying on a bad day, feeling really down today & to top it all off a really good friend went & let me down without any explanation what so ever so I feel really hurt but their loss as they will soon realise.

How are you doing ?
