Hi there,
I found this site by chance and I am very pleased that I did. My troubles seem very small in comparison to what I have seen on the site but I think the amount of helpful information I have been able to find in a very short space of time is amazing !
My name is Alan, 43 years old and all was well until the beginning of January when I went down with an extremely bad virus which had several symptoms which caused me to get in a real state of worry - what quickly happened was that I developed dry mouth for about 3 weeks (I couldn't have licked a stamp !) which thankfully seems to be ok now but I am now suffering from a feeling of of having something in my thoat and am constantly clearing my throat - I have had lots of tests done and it doesn't look as if it is physical. I was despairing a bit but have found on your site that there is a condition called globus hystericus and have since read up on it and feel reassured by the experiences of those that have had the same issue and have also found the self help section of the site very useful.

Hi Alan

A warm welcome aboard to you.

No troubles are too small on here so please feel free to post as much or as little as you want to.

I have the throat problem too and on Monday went to see an ENT specialist. My post is here - you may to skim through it as it is long now!

Swallowing / throat problems / Being strangled! (http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4476)

I hope you get some great support on here and meet some lovely people.

Thanks Nicola - I too went to an ENT specialist this week and also had the thin bendy telescope inserted through my nose - as you said, not painful but a very strange sensation ! He could see no problem and sent me for a barium swallow test which I had this morning and also showed no problem. It looks like it could be the globus pharyngeus problem referred to in your thread but at least now I know that there is not a physical problem and that I can use that information positively.

Hope you get better soon,

Alan x
