Has anyone found that they suddenly have allergies appear when in the depth of anxiety.. Pollen allergy, food intolerances, or others.
I never had hay fever but this bout of anxiety started April. Suddenly I found myself with dry itchy eyes, watery itchy nose, few sneezes, dry and congested nose and also wheat intolerance which I didnt have a problem with before .

there has been some research into the links between allergy symptoms and anxiety, to do with histamine and how this can make you anxious....something like histadelia or something...

Thats interesting allergyphobia..It was my first bout of HA 10 years ago that I found I was sensitive to perfumes, fumes, chemical smells..gave me pounding sinus type headaches. I have to use perfume free products now. More recently its been the wheat intolerance, and the high pollen.
About 8 years ago I reached into a bag of hay to do the bedding for my guinea pigs and felt a sharp sensation on my index finger. When I looked I saw a white bump and a wasp fly off !!.. I had never been stung before, ever.. Anyway, I reached in again and would you believe a second wasp stung my finger!!.. Twice in a few minutes and 2 very painful lumps. What are the chances of that :ohmy:My HA wasnt an issue at that time though so I just bathed them and they went away in a short time.

I've oddly enough noticed that I have developed hayfever recently - as well as weird sinus issues which I never used to have.

I just had a read up on this and there does seem to be a connection. Also there can be a connection between fluctuating hormones and allergies.

I have developed an allergy of cats, only really just noticed it a few weeks ago, but it's getting worse. My girlfriend has two cats that leave hair all over the place, and so everytime I sit down in their living room I feel wheezy and sick. It's a complete nightmare and also very embarrassing: I feel like my body is "complaining" about the inadequate cleanness of their home (her mum's face when I had to admit I was allergic to cat hair... well, she looked at me like I was insulting her)...

Well I got a diagnosis off my gp today.. He took one look at me as I walked in and said "Hayfever".. I said, but I dont think ive ever suffered with that.
He answered that during this very high pollen of late lots of people are coming in to surgery with hayfever symptoms that have never bothered them before.
So, we went through a list of my symptoms even from my previous visit 10 years ago..and he concluded that I infact have Perennial Rhinitis.. I have nasal, ear,eye and digestive problems with high pollen, perfumes and fumes, central heating, msg, wheat, mushrooms...and likely other allergens which I would need testing for.
I was quite surprised by some of the symptoms of perennial rhinitis:ohmy:

i am quite shocked that there is a link between allergies and anxiety. i have lots of allergies which started when i was 16 and going through domestic violence, i suddenly became allergic to cats (i have had a cat all my childhood with no problems), dogs, both types of dust mites, severe latex allergy, grass, shrimp, avacado, tea tree, and god knows what else! i have been tested for all of these and was frequently seeing an allergy specialist but stopped going as everytime i went he seemed to find something else i was allergic to ha ha. it would be interested if that period of extreme anxiety triggered my allergies??

I have been feeling very anxious as well recently.
I started having sinus problems at the beginning of May, and then my ears started hurting and I felt kinda dizzy.
My GP said that I might have an inner ear infection or maybe allergies. Well, the symptoms still haven't gone away, and when I went to see an ENT last week, he said that I looked fine, and I probably just have allergies or a virus.
I am constantly scared and depressed, feeling like this is never going to go away.
I can feel my heartbeat throughout my whole body now, and I can't sleep at night.
I might go see an allergist soon if I'm still feeling bad in a few days.
Any sugguestions of what this might be? Is it really allergies or something else?

Hi Ensimes.. thats exactly how my symptoms started. Also my first bout 10 years ago started that way.. I was free of anxiety for 10 years and then the nasal/ear thing started it again in March even though ive had sinus irritation over those 10 years but not as bad. I do know from my gp that anxiety, hormones, allergies can be involved with sinus/ears/nasal congestion etc. Just keep pushing your GP on the nose/ear symptoms .
