beta blockers??

my doctor just prescribed me beta blockers. he tried to give me anti depressants but i said no! he said these will lower my heart rate when i feel anxious. because alot of my fear comes from doing recreational drugs in the past i never like taking any sort of pill or med. ive read alot about them and it states bad side effects and that i may get reliant. does anyone out there take these for anxiety.? are they a bad idea? i currently do not take any med, never have and had anxiety for over a year.x

Hi :) Ive been on them before and they do work. Dont think they are addictive but just use them when and if you need them. I used to go clubbin (alot) and do believe that that has added to my anxiety but to be honest ive always been an anxious kind of person. Dont be so hard on yourself.Xx
