Hi Everyone

My name is Alexandra but i prefer Alex.

I live with my wonderful fiance Chris & our lovely little westie Archie.
Chris & i are getting married 5th August this year & are really looking forward to it.

In the past i have suffered with depression but thankfully have over come that. However it has now moved on to mild agraphobia. I can take the dog out for a walk in the park but i just cannot get my head round getting on a bus by myself yet or getting down to the local shop which is about a 20 min walk. I do have a counsellor who i see about once a month which has been really great but i would really love to chat more to people in the same boat as myself.

Welcome aboard Alex!

You seem a very positive sort, and with a little help, I'm sure you can conquer the agoraphobia too.

No reason to suppose you can't beat it by August. Just tackle the agoraphobia in small steps.

Take care,

Hello Alex

Welcome to the site and I'm happy to see your great input and comments on a variety of threads even before I came across your introduction.

Sounds like you are already close to the right track but need to push back your boundaries a bit more step by step.

Some people who need this find it useful to start a progress thread and use it as a kind of diary where you can get encouragement and help.

Your anxiety is the human representation of the pictures that you paint using your many vivid colours of revolving and reoccurring thoughts.

Hi Alex,

Nice to meet you, I'm krissie, I have just joined this site. I suffer with depression/anger/anxiety and am a self harmer. I am looking to chat to other people who can understand what I am going through and I would like to offer my support and help if I can.

It's good that you are getting out walking the dog, little steps at a time are the best way to go about overcoming fears and worries....

hugs,
Krissie :)

Hi I'm new here too and I'm really confused about where I post things. Might have to come back and get the help of my daughter. I'm 46 and have had severe anxiety and a panic disorder. I am better than a year go but I still get panic and anxiety quite often. The panic is like an electric shock going through my body and it can linger for days. The panic and anxiety comes from worrying about illness and back pain. I also had a hysterectemy 10 years ago, I take HRT and I often wonder if this started then as I have had panic attacks since that time. It's comforting to know that so many people are feeling the same.

Hi, Kim, Marcia, jackie & Sal,

Glad you all like my little quote. I have always loved it from when i first heard it at school & then i was reminded of it once again when i first went through depression, a good friend of mine bought me a little card with it on. It means alot to me.
