holding on for toilet until last second

hi i suffer from depression anxiety and i take mirtazapine (i tried most others) i have an embarresing problem i had all my life i think , i often wait until the last possible seconds before i attempt to go the toilet i will sit there wriggling for a pee or i will sit there cross legged holding a poop in , why do i do this? sometimes i leave it too late and soil myself.

The main thing that comes to mind is that its an issue with trying to control your body. Have you tried going to the toilet when you first feel the need? what happens?
