can you still get side effects even if you been taking med for some time?

Most meds you get the side effects the first few weeks . I never had any when i took amitriptiline. What side effects do you mean ?

dry mouth and lip's i worry its mouth cancer

One of the most common side effects from amitryptiline is a dry mouth and lips because it can cause slight dehydration. Try drinking a lot of water during the day and using a lip balm :) I had very dry skin and lips on amitrip and I always felt thirsty.
