guys just had a thought there,

1. do you think keeping ourselves active ie. going to college, work, having a social life, hobbies etc.. keep anxiety and depression more at bay ? I ask this because i'm off college at the moment and my depression/anxiety is WAY worse than when im at college!

and:

2. i heard something about if you remember your dreams every night it means that your not getting a really good nights sleep as your mind is in REM sleep and this isn't restful sleep. is this true? do you guys always remember your dreams?

thanks guys :)

Hi Rachel

I work in a school so I am off on the 6 weeks holidays right now and its driving me crazy! I know my anxiety is WAY worse when I am at home alone...must stay active. It's tricky to fill 6 weeks though. I can't wait to get back to work!

This is a big yes from me as well. When we aren't occupied enough, either physically or mentally, then we have more chance to ruminate on things (think in circles) and this just seems to be the best possible way to fuel anxiety. When I'm suffering really badly, I have to force myself to do things, but it does help.

Hi Rachel yes being busy takes your mind off your problems , so why not try and do some volunteer work during the holiday period i have found that volunteering has helped my loads .

Maggie
Try the internet for some ideas about volunteering i work in a hospital / hospice

Re the sleep / dreams I do not have any thoughts on this sometimes i can remember them other times not xxxxxxxxxxxx

hi nikkikl!

thank god somebody understands! its such a shock to the system! im working at the moment, but i find its the days i have off that cause my anxiety to be worse. for the first month of the holidays i was unemployed and it was driving me crazy!

although i think its important to keep busy in order to "distract" myself, im also very aware of how people like yourself and myself can become easily tired ... its trying to find the balance between doing things ie. exercise, socialising and resting!

has anyone any good tips for keeping a balance?

:)
