Hi I'm Debbie.

I have been suffering with anxiety and depression for approx 3 years now, but the last few months have been the worst. My first symptoms were feeling dizzy and panicking in case I fainted. I have a constant nervous feeling which is present most of the time and feel like I am not quite with it (if anyone knows what this is like). I have been off work now for 4 months and my GP has started me on Fluoxetine. This made me feel a lot worse at the beginning but I am gradually having better days now. Before Christmas I was finding it hard to leave the house, or drive a car for fear of a panic attack (which I was having at the time).

I find it hard to explain to people my symptoms as they don't seem to understand them. [Sigh...]

Thankfully I am now starting to feel a bit better and hoping to go back to work in March (although my husband doesn't think I should return just yet).

I have also has 2 sessions of Reiki which seems to have helped me relax a little more.

I was wondering whether anyone gets a odd taste in their mouth at all, this symptom I get from time to time.

Hi Debbie,

A metallic taste is what many people compain of.

Most of us have been able to relate to the dizziness at some point. Look at Nic frequent posts thread in announcements
for lots of other experiences with this.

Reiki can be useful in learning relaxation as can yoga which is also combining some exercise and suppleness exercises as well .

As for going back to work , can you arrange a phased return and see how that works out so its not such a shock when you do go back.

Hi Debbie

Welcome to NMP! Yes I can relate to the taste in the mouth although that for me started in my early 20's when my depression and phobia were heightened. That symptom has subsided over the years, and I am sure it will for you. Try sucking a polo sometimes it helped me.

I am glad you have found this site which is full of information that will help you

Take good care
