Hello everyone,

Im thrilled to have found a great site, im a 42 female who as suffered with Anxiety/Agorophobia for the last 10 years, it all started after been held up by a armed robber, i was house bound for 2 years but now able to go into my local town to do the shopping without panic, at the moment i am feeling trapped in my own town as soon as i get to the border of my town in my car (which i go everywhere in) i just start to panic, at present i am having CBT which as helped me greatly in my tasks of ventuing out of my home, its a slow prossess, but i feel happy with what i have achieved so far after been house bound for so long, i am hoping to get lots of advice from you all and to share with you my experiences also.

Hi everyone, now i will get round to introducing myself :) My name is kerry and i am 37. I have been married for 15 years and i have 3 lovely children. A girl of 19 and two boys of 15 and 13.
I first realised i was suffering deppression after my first child 19 years ago. (postnatal deppression) which then got worst after having another two children.
It did turn out however that this was not just the cause of my deppression but having the children had highlighted it. The cause laid deeper from abuse as a child. my mum dying, my dad not wanting me. my first marriage breakdown, right through to being held up at gunpoint. The list is endless.
Through all the truma i have had a million and one things wrong with me. ANXIETY, PANIC ATTACKS, OCD, INSOMMINA, POST TRUMATIC STRESS, FIBROMYALGIA. ETC. All these come with individual symtoms of there own (as most of you will be aware of)
I have had a lot of councilling, been on numerous different antidepressants (some with horrible side effects) and had different sleeping tablets.
I am so glad i have found this forum and i hope i can be of help to any of you and i know you will all be of help to me. I am quite happy to answer any of your questions, openly or privately please feel free to contact me. I look forward to getting to know you all.
thanks for reading. kerry

Hello Andrea, Hello Kerry

Welcome to you both.

Glad you are getting some CBT. If you are still plagued by nightmares and flashbacks than you may need to ask for some specialist PTSD help too to help you get over the horrid experience

A warm welcome to you both!

The beauty of this site is that we can support each other, and this is a great example where two people have similarly unusual stories.

Andrea - I hope the CBT is going well.
