Morning Peeps

Just wondering if everyone has been diagnosed with a specific anxiety disorder? My doctor just tells me its anxiety but no proper diagnosis.

I find it hard to believe it is anxiety that is causing me all these physical symptoms, my main concern is the weight loss no matter how much i force myself to eat i cant seem to maintain weight. Then i start thinking this along with the all day dizziness has to be something serious the doctors have overlooked.

Xx

you probably need to visit a psychiatrist for an official diagnosis.
normally doctors will refer you on to a psychiatrist.
psychiatrist will normally just offer medication rather than therapy.

well I just self diagnoses my self with general anxiety and agoraphobia and panic attacks.
I did visit a psychiatrist and he want to put me in the mental health hospital for a week and pump me full of drugs...... personally i find nutrition, talk therapy, CBT, meditation, exposure therapy...... drug free therapy much more beneficial.

medication can help, but not just on it's own, you need to put in the hard work too of self help and positive thinking :-)

Hey Mandy,

It's often difficult for a general doctor to specify between different anxiety disorders because they all present very similar symptoms and often a sufferer of one disorder can suffer from another as well. The symptoms all overlap. If you want an official diagnosis and more in depth discussion and help with overcoming it I would recommend seeing a psychologist or psychiatrist who are specialised in differentiating between these disorders. I'm studying to be a psychologist right now and I'm only in my first year of 7! They've done a lot of study in regards to psychological disorders and can be much more helpful than general GPs :) I myself see a psychiatrist and have been diagnosed with panic disorder, general anxiety disorder, depression and OCD. Plenty to keep me occupied :) lol

Never underestimate anxiety, the physical symptoms can be everything from tiredness to muscle pain, from dizziness to you name it. When I had time off work General Anxiety Disorder is what the doctor put for the reason so I know mine without asking. It's funny that having an official medical term for it does provide a certain amount of reassurance.
