Can anyone help please? Found a breast lump recently and went to see my GP who said that although she thought it nothing to worry about, would refer me just to get it checked. Went to see the consultant on Wednesday and had a mammogram and ultrasound. It appears that I have what they think is a cyst or fibroadenoma but they need to find out which. I have had fibroadenoma's before when I was much younger (16) and had 2 removed. Am now 47. Three years ago I went to see the same consultant about pain in my right breast and everything was ok apart from a tiny cyst in the other breast. The consultant is going to drain it on Monday afternoon and I presume to check whether their is any fluid or not. Of course I have googled it and am panicking now as it appears that some cysts that have blood in the drained fluid can be cancerous!
My husband did ask whether we should be concerned with the fact that he wants to do it on Monday so quickly and the consultant said that his Consultant Radiologist who carried out the ultrasound is convicned it is benign. Despite this reassurance, I am getting myself in a terrible state about it and wonder if anybody knows anything about this sort of thing or has experienced something similar? Please help, I feel sick with worry.
