Yes I do too - I do at the moment as well and I don't even feel anxious or panicky.

I feel as though I can't swallow properly and am sometimes sick cos it feels like food won't go down.

I am not too worried about it as I have had it before many times, but it is a horrid feeling.

I also used to feel that my tongue is too big for my mouth - that was a horrid feeling!

Oh do you Jade - weird isn't it. Glad to hear that I am not the only one. There was someone else on here that had it too.

I used to keep sticking it out to see why it wouldn't fit in my mouth - lol

This is a recognised symptom of anxiety guys, and one with completely innocent causes. The medical term for this condition is Globus Hystericus (really) and is caused when the shoulder/back and neck muscles constrict involuntarily due to the stress and tension. This can cause the throat to feel like its got a lump in it, and in some people this 'lumpiness' extends to the upper stomach. Sometimes you may feel like it's difficult to swallow, or it feels 'wierd' when you yawn. Trust me on this, it is completely harmless, but can hang around for a long time. It will fade away when you stop thinking about it too much (if only eh?)

Hope this helps,

Hiya Guys,

I also get the "lump in the throat" symptom!

Sometimes it is so bad that I find it even hard to talk!

Just another "anxiety" thing!!

Anxiety sucks... but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

This is how my anxiety symptoms started with a tightening of the throat (I thought I had hayfever and got antihistamines!!! - I was then given an inhaler by the doctor and then anti-biotics by another doctor!) When one doctor finally told me it was anxiety symptoms - of course by this time I was constant throat checking (to see if my throat was closing). I then went on to the fear of allergy (ie fear of throat closing!!!)

It eventually went (the throat tightening) but I'm afraid i'm having a bit of a bad time at the mo and it is back again (I know what it is this time but still horrible)

I also was convinced my lips were swelling up and kept on checking in the mirror - I had many a full blown attack because of this.

It will go away with relaxation though and when it does come back (if it does then you will deal with it alot better i assure you)

Ice cold water with a squirt of rescue remedy can help .

Hi Ogar!

Yes, I've experience this too! Sometimes mine goes right to the upper stomach and causes a 'bubbling' sensation which seems to know my heart out of rythm and makes it appear to miss a beat. This only happens when I am strung up about something, never when relaxed. I tend to tighten up my tummy muscles when I am tense about anything.

Take care and if you are not relaxing, try it, you will be amazed at the difference!

Take care
