Went on a day trip yesterday and got talking to a guy that said hed suffered with panic attacks for years. He recommended magnesium tabs from Holland and Barratt.
Anyone else heard of these? And if so do they help?

Hi Lynn,
I went in search of something to replace valium and came across these magnesium tablets in Holland and Barrett, I mentioned them to my GP, and he laughed and said, Holland and Barrett are looking for people like me to walk into their shop and that he couldn't recommend magnesium tablets as being able to aide with the panic. I didn't buy any, as this put me off, but would be interested to know if anyone else has.

I'd really recommend that anyone serious about trying mineral supplements (and who can afford to spend a few hundred pounds over a period of several months ) investigate finding an alternative practitioner specialising in celloid mineral therapy (biochemic tissue salts), preferably one who prescribes from the Blackmores range. Mine is in Perthshire but consults by mail nowadays. It's £100 for the initial test and I'm prob spending £40 a month on minerals. Not cheap but it has had a huge impact on my CFS. I'm happy to give more info to anyone who wants to PM me.

I have read various things listing magnesium as something to take for anxiety/panic. Also Vit B Complex. I am seeing my GP this week, will have a chat with her about it.

Meant to add - LiquidSky, many docs are sceptical about these things but it doesn't mean they are right. I've learned from personal experience that it is always worth having an open mind x

I know JaneC, I think they have a constant battle between herbalists, over the drugs vs herbs remedies.

You're right, LS, and it's only getting worse with the BMA actively campaigning against homeopathy at the moment. It all smacks of protectionism to me. Meanwhile, the only thing GPs could offer me for CFS was a shrug of the shoulders. Within three months of starting mineral therapy I was a different person.

Thanks LS. If I tend to bang on a bit about this, it's only because it's been such a revelation

Hi Granny, there is a great section on magnesium under natural remedies, on this site, written by an rgn I think. I looked at it yesterday, very informative x:)
