I know it may not sound like very much but it's a huge irritant to me and was just wondering if any else also experiences having a really dry throat most of the time. :unsure:

Yes. I have noticed that most of the time swallowing can seem to be an effort.
Also, the irritation makes me go through bouts of coughing and only drinking will shift it.

Yes, I get this, particularly at night. I think maybe it is a side effect of medications. It seems to get worse in the winter if the central heating is on as well. If I do have the heating on, I try to put a damp towel on the radiator so that the water evaporates and makes the air less dry. I also bought some liquid glycerol/glycerin, you can get it from the chemist, you add water to it and drink it. Or you can get simple cough linctus that has it in and some flavouring. It coats your throat so it doesn't feel so dry and can help relieve the coughing, and it's basically a kind of sugar syrup, so you can keep using it.
