On a earlier thread today i said i checked my poo several times a day for blood as i thought this was an early sign of bowel cancer ...i had a reply that said fresh red blood was nothing to worry about but she said that black or green poo was suspicious...never had green poo but black sometimes in the past...surely black poo does not mean bowel cancer

I think just the fact you said "somtimes in the past" means you have nothing to worry about. I am sorry for sending your anxiety through the roof though. That wasnt my intention.
If you are truely concerned about your bowel movements you could ask your GP for a stool test.

Do you take iron? That causes black poo. Diet can cause black poo - if it is tarry and more burgendy (and you haven't eaten beetroot) then it could be a form of inflammation in the bowel but highly unlikely to be bowel cancer.

Do not worry! You'd be suffering a lot more if you did have it. I'm positive you are fine.
