hi all , i just came across this fantastic forum & would be gratefull of any answers to my prolem :)

i've been on citalopram for 10 weeks all together - 7 weeks at 20 mgs & 3 weeks at 40 mgs - i have depression & anxiety )
20mgs i suffered the usual side effects ( they wore off ) but i didn't like 20mgs were doing much after 7 weeks - so my doc put me upto 40mgs 3 weeks later theres still not much happening for me ( i have a bit less anxiety than before i started them ) but on 40mgs i'm more tired & just feel like motivation is non exsistant
- still not happy still feel down? i'm have cbt which is helping -

what do i do next ( should i be giving the 40mgs more time to take effect?

my doc said 3 weeks ago at my last appointment that i should take 40mgs for 4 weeks then if its not helping go back down to 20mgs ( but 20mgs wasn't helping either? i'm a bit stuck on this one - any advise for experiance would be great.

thanks jay

hiya jay
sorry 2 hear ur not coping 2 well with ur meds ,were all different and meds effect us all different i took 20mg of cit 3years ago and they helped me so much but this time round they didnt help at all and increased my anxiety so my gp put me on 30mg of mirtazapine.
i think u should just give them another week to get them fully into your system and then if theres still no improvement go bk to your gp and ask him to change your meds its all hit and miss trying to get the right medication for each individual
hope u feel better soon
:hugs:

Hello Jay and welcome.
I agree, follow what your GP told you and then go back if you don't feel better. It can take time.
CBT is supposed to be really good, so keep at it!
