Still trying to come through this big flare up of Anxiety last year. Somedays are better than others (which of course goes for anybody really). Its just these odd little frights/?panic. I could be doing something or walking somewhere and a whoosh comes over me as though life isn't real and wondering if i'm really here etc. And then i often think once i'm in bed asleep i'll be ok. I suppose i'm using "bed" as security and peace or is it that i'm a little depressed still maybe after all the Acute Anxiety ? Suz x

Sounds like derealisation/depersonalisation due to anxiety to me.

Check out these posts to see if they help:

Hi Suz
I can totally relate to how you are feeling and I tend to rush to bed as my "safe place" the unreal feelings I experience also
As a postive I am finding these are becoming much less since I am starting to understand the symptoms of anxiety and have found that reading all of the info on this site also helps.

Hi Suzuki

I use bed as a way of escapism, especially when I get feelings of derealization. Lately it's been quite constant for me but I can also relate to the whoosh feeling aswell. I think that's what bothers me the most is the fact that it can just come on like that. Unfortunately you cant just jump in to bed If your out and about so you have to be prepared and find ways of being able to cope with it when it strikes. Easier said than done I know. Although I had feelings of derealization during the first few hours of today, rather than go back to bed or reach for the Vallium I decided just to carry on as normal and to be honest it worked. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like these are just small surges in thoughts and a wobble as you struggle try to rationalize that particular one.

You have always been triggered by what you consider to be strange thoughts and I guess these are just the tail end of them . Keep plodding away.
