as anyone who nos me will no, i could sleep on a washing line, generally speaking i have at least 3 kids in bed with me and i sleep on the edge of the edge of the bed. doesnt bother me, i sleep. but last night i struggled to get over. the breathlessnessgot me again and i couldnt help but feel this was my last. at 2 stages i woke up sweating, arm numb and palpitations all at once. i couldnt breath.

i had a very specific test done last week for a clot and it was confirmed normal but i cant help but feel that a week has gone by and that maybe it has just arrived in me and that i should get the test repeated

i did eventually goo over and have been running about my house like a maniac cleaning, and havent sat down. still feel breathless and a need to cough all the time but i am getting on with it

is it possible for the clot to be there and move about so that at times i can breath and at times i cant. could it be there and just biding its time before it kills me.

i no this all sounds soooo needy but i am petrified. the ddimer test is apparently almost conclusive and it was negative but i cant help but fear then that the clot came after.

i was spitting up bllod as weell but they said on wednesday there was no need to repeat the test as it was normal last saturday

sorry again but i needed to get this fear out no one else knows about this but you all

Hi jackie,

Sorry to hear you're struggling again. I think it all sounds like anxiety especially if it comes and goes.

I had a d-dimer test in September and it was positive (high), yet they couldn't find a clot, so you can imagine how I feel every time I get breathless as I know I have a positive d-dimer level, although I am accepting it more now (case of having to). It took two specialists and two gp's and the hospital lab to convince me that I could have a positive d-dimer and no clot. There are bad days where it still comes into my mind though. In fact even thinking/writing about it now is enough to start me wondering again.
I was told it's a good test if it's negative as that rules out clots, but if it's positive it doesn't always mean a clot. Even having a cold or infection can make it high (although I didn't have any infection so who knows why mine is high).

Spitting up blood can be all sorts from blood from the nose to something like just straining a bit when coughing and infections.

I know it's hard to accept all these symptoms, I guess all we can do is get them checked out and then try and accept them. I assume you have talked to your gp about all these symptoms aswell? I seem to remember you got the blood spitting checked out by the nurse last week?

Sorry I can't help more.

Hi Jackie, I had that test done when I came back off holiday, to make matters worse I'd flown as well (I was convinced I had DVT). I'd also had my bag stolen on holiday with everything in it, what a bloody nightmare, panic attacks & stress galore, but my test came back negative too. I too was also convinced that there was something travelling about, you hear of clots starting off in the leg, working their way up to your lungs, which in iteslf is life threatening, then your heart or your brain aaarggghh!! How we worry so much. I did ask for a repeat test & was told one wasn't needed & to stop worrying so much. Easier said than done isn't it. I had one of the worst nights I've had in a long time last night. I was OK once I got to sleep, but all evening & until falling asleep I was having allsorts of things going on with my heart & back, causing severe breathing problems only for seconds, but really scared me. I feel absolutely fine today & I'm terrible at sleeping, although I am sleeping with my 5 year old son at the moment, so not getting the quality sleep that I need. I worried about the clot thing for ages, every tingle I got in my leg, if my back hurt, if I couldn;t breathe I thought it was a clot. That was last August & I'm still here, so I reckon they were right Jackie. I know its hard not to worry, but you're doing the right thing by busying yourself, trouble is when you sit down, it comes back doesn't it! You're not on your own with this one Jackie.

Hope you have a better night tonight, you and me both!

LISA YOU ARE RIGHT. LAST SATURDAY I WENT TO CASUALTY AND GOT THE PAIN IN MY LEG CHECKED. ALL TESTS WERE DONE AND NEGATIVE. THE NEXT DAY THE BREATHLESSNESS STARTED BUT I PUT IT DOWN TO THE LATE NIGHT ETC.

BY THURSDAY I WAS SPITTING UP STUFF. NURSE CHECKED ME OUT AND SAID IT WAS NOTHING

FRIDAY I WAS SPITTING UP BLOOD. GP SENT ME TO CASUALTY AND THEY DID ECG, CHECKED CHEST AND SAID THE BLOOD WAS COMING FROM MY NOSE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO NEED TO REPEAT THE DDIMER TEST AS IT WAS NEGATIVE AND THE ECG ETC WAS NORMAL

TODAY AND AFTER THAT NIGHT SLEEP I AM SOO WORRIED THEY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING BECAUSE I FEEL SO BREATHLESS, SHAKY, NERVY AND SWEATY.

MY PERIOD IS DUE AND MY DAUGHTER WAS OFF SICK LAST WEEK WITH A CHEST INFECTION

YET I FEEL NO COMFORT. IM SORRY IM SO NEEDY TONIGHT. I HAVE GREAT DAYS AND THEN DIE FOR A FEW DAYS

CANT BEAR THIS FEELING THAT THEY HAVE MISSED SOMETHING. A CLOT HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE AND AS I HAVE ALL THE SYMPTOMS I FEEL IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I AM PROVED RIGHT.

THANKS GIRLS, YOU ARE SO GOOD TO REPLY TO A DITHERING WRECK
JACKIE
