Well i went to the doctors today for a progress report and he decided that instead of taking 1 20mg tablet of citalopram once a day to take 2 20mg tablets once a day is this normal and why not just prescribe me 1 40 mg tablet a day but on the plus side he said i look 100 times better than last time i saw him and that i look alot more relaxed than previous meetings

Gareth

This may sound weird but 2 x 20mg is better than 1 x 40mg. I know this cos when I was on the blood pressure medication last year they doubled it and gave me a 1 x dose. I had taken the 2 x dose with hardly any problems but when I went to the 1 x dose I was really ill.

He said the 1 x dose was stronger than the 2 x dose - does that make any sense atall.

This may be why he is doing this for you?

yeah probably also becuse its been working so well and then the last few days its starting creeping up on me he doesnt want to let me relapse and reckons maybe 20 mg is not strong enough for my body and that 40 mg might be the better option

It could also be that if it disagrees with you, you can go straight back to 20mg without the need for a new prescription.

Do you pay for your prescription - cos they are expensive aren't they?

I pay £90 a year for a pre-pay certificate, cos I have to get blood-pressure tablets every month so that would be 12 x £6 = £72

What do we pay the NHS for again - please remind me - lol

£6.40 per prescription

40mg is quite a lot....more than recommended for panic i think....
