Hello,

My name is Tony and I have been struggling with Anxiety for 6 years and I知 just coming to accepting that I have anxiety problems.

It all started with a simple headache, which lasted for 4 years and I guess it was through anxiety.
I had tests done to rule out anything serious.

This then made me suffer with anxiety, the symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, breathing etc.

August 2005 I developed a urination problem where I was going the toilet 8-10 a day, which I had tests for and anything serious was ruled.

Now I知 struggling with my left rib hurting, throat feels dry and blocked and my breathing has been the worst ever. I went to the AE Sunday and a blood test result showed that I might have a blood clot.
After a chest x-ray and a lung x-ray for a blood clot, the hospital said I did not have a blood clot.

I then went to my doctor and he said if something was serious on the chest x-ray then the hospital would of told me about it and faxed the results to the doctors.

I知 still worrying, that痴 why I知 on this website I suppose.

I知 currently taking amitriptyline.

I manage to work but at a slower rate of speed as I feel the need to walk around (can not sit still) and feel like I'm getting upset at my desk.

Hi Tony,

It is definately the anxiety that is causing you to feel this way, so you should try not to worry too much, as it is the worrying making it worse! Basically, its a viscious circle!

You need to tell yourself that it is the anxiety and accept it, if you keep doing this, I found that it actually did get better!

The test results should also comfort you, knowing that you have been to the hospital and doctors and been given the all clear.

Its amazing what stress and worry can physically do to us, but remember, nothing that happens from suffering anxiety/ panic disorder can actually harm us and it is not dangerous at all!

I hope you feel better soon, and a big warm welcome to the site, hope you enjoy your stay!!!

Take care
Love Jodie xx

Hi Tony,

Welcome to NMP :)

I don't know if Jackie was talking about me but I had the blood test (d-dimer) that can mean blood clots last September (not a year ago but 6 months appx). I was breathless for weeks so a gp did the blood test, I was phoned at work and told to get to hospital asap which scared me so much. They did a chest x-ray and ECG along with a thorough clinical history and listened to chest etc. I didn't get a lung scan (of couse when I read that you did I though oh my god why didn't I). Anyway they kept me there for a day and sent me home and said no clot. I found this so hard to accpet as I had this high blood level that can indicate clots yet they say I don't have one. I ended up seeing my cardiologist who said high d-dimer doesn't mean anything as just one test and can be high for several reasons or no reason. he said he could give me a lung scan but that it involved radiation and radioactive dye being injected into me. He also told me that blood clots in the lungs would show changes on the ECg so he was happy I didn't have one, so I decided to trust him and not have the scan. Even to this day if I get breathless I sometimes think clots, and still occasionally wonder if I have one that's been undetected since September. I first had anxiety when I got ME in 2003 but I recovered really quickly and was anxiety free until last summer. I have only had bad anxiety again since this d-dimer test was done. My own gp said the test should never have been done by a gp only by a hospital and the gp that ordered it was told off. In fact even talking about d-dimers and clots gets me going again. so I'll leave it there.

I know how hard this health anxiety is but it can improve, especially with CBT.

Take care and good luck,

Lisa

Hi Tony,

I have had anxiety for over 2 years and have found that the symptoms do shift around from time to time. New symptoms are scary, but its also a sign that they are anxiety symptoms and nothing more sinister.

It affects us in so many different ways, but you'll find some really useful info and posts here.

Its good that Nicola and Meg have both replied to you - they are the stalwarts on this site and are quite knowledgeable!

Cheers,

Ray

Hi,

Today I feel a little worse in the though of what the doctor said yesterday. He said signs of lung cancer are coughing up blood.

Today I have coughed several times and this is geting my anxiety worse.

My thoat today is not hurting but feels dry and swollen.

The doctor looked into my mouth yesterday and felt my throat and said everything is ok.

What's on my mind is how can a doctor tell if your throat is ok?

Oh sweetheart you really are going through a tuff old time of it arnt you,and like wise.

Ive had anxiety on and of for 15 years ... i even think i had it as a kid so i have had it most of my life, and this is my thoughts personally... i dont think we are ever free of it eniterly.. i think it will always be there--so what we have to do is control it, not let it control us...and before it gets really bad we have to notice our little signs and warnings before it builds up in to the circle of fear, and not the circle of life anymore...you lose that quality of living when you get this bad and it is nasty and horrid and so so depressing, that simply watching eastenders then becomes a misson and hard to do, you lose the ability to simply do that,,our concentration goes out of the window.

I know how you feel darling and we all do on here, coz we have been there or are there at that point now.

Ive been in and out of a and e,its unreal in my life, good for someone who hates hosptial...makes ya laugh though..i did actually end up in hosptialonce though...i was real ill and that had to admit me because the infection had spread quite seriously... guess what it was for MY EAR lol how impressive..

I am too going through ,, actually the worst time in my life.. im scared so much for different symtoms...maining ... eptopic beats ... but lotes of others too.

Are you having counselling ,self help classes, relaxtion, or any anxiety help professional atall love ?
