Hello. I'm new here. Suffered from GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) for most of my life. Worked really hard to face my fears head - on and had a lot of success. Even took a journey trekking in the Himalayas to confront my anxiety. A year and 1/2 ago I started getting numbness and tingling in my lips. Thought it was a nerve problem. It lasted for a few months so I went to a neurologist and had an MRI. Results were normal and symptoms disappeared. Came back on the right side of my mouth last fall (one year ago) and has not left since. It feels like I a) am coming off of Lidocaine at the dentist or b) burned my tongue on hot soup. The pain has spread now to my right arm (around the joints specifically), tingling in my right foot and pain in right foot/leg. Most recently my right eye feels numb/pressure. I have literally been to at least 5 doctors that have performed neurological exams, I have had two MRI's and they all say my symptoms point to stress, which I have had A LOT OF for the past 2 years (marriage problems - hubby is an addict, a big move, pay change, etc). Its strange though that my symptos never go away - even when I'm completely calm. I don't get panic attacks and haven't for years. I am so SICK of feeling this way and worrying that it could be something serious. I was diagnosed with spasmodic dysphonia last winter (after having been told its stress for 5 years) - a neurological disorder that causes spasms in the vocal cords - see Dianne Reems or Catherine Hepburn - they both had it. It is treated with Botox injections in the vocal cords every 2 - 6 months. Anyone else have the burning/stinging/aching symptoms I am describing on the Right side? SERENITY NOW!!!

Forgot to mention that I am triggered by the fact that I was told my SD was stress and "what if they are missing something" again?! Also - this sounds neurotic, but my forehead lines are crooked - the right side is not as high as the left and I'm SURE I would have noticed this before!!!

Hi its nice to meet you x:welcome:
Ive had panic and anx for ten years, but only had the tingling in hands/feet/face and tongue for the past two years. My gp and cardiac specialist both said its anxiety. Its hard to accept when I get it when Im calm, but have to trust they know what their talking about.............
I hope you get some relief from it soon, mine never goes, but some days are better than others. Serenity now!
Best wishes, Paula x:yesyes:

PHEW! Nice to know I'm not alone. Thx Paula! Is yours on both sides, or just one? I have seriously been to a neurologist, an internal medicine doc and 2 other GP's. All say its that dumb ol' stress. This too shall pass, right?!
Hugs,
NB

i am sure that because you do have a neurological problem in your vocal chords that your gp would be extra viligant/open to this new lot of symptoms being physical in basis. i know what you mean though - i am always thinking IS this anxiety or not! but i am sure because you already have neurological problems that if this tingling etc was down to something like this - they would have picked it up - i am presuming you have told them of your worries that your throat condition kept being passed off as stress? xx
