I think the answer for me is that both come first under different circumstances:

For example: I can get genuine symptoms like a bad cough or cold/flu (or any genuine medical symptom that I cant explain) that lead me to feel anxious or I can get anxious thoughts that lead to symptoms of anxiety.
The whole symptoms/anxiety thing can eventually just become a vicious circle.

with me the anxiety and the symptoms basically feed off each other so they happen at the same time.

Agree with Missy, feel a bit dizzy, lightheaded etc and then the anx kicks in and the symptoms become worse before you know it Mrs Anxiety has you hook line and bloomin sinker

My symptoms come first and then the anxiety which in turn makes the symptoms much worse. So what starts of as a palpitation or a pain rapidly becomes a heart attack or something x
