Hello all...it's been a long time since I last posted on NMP forum

Anyways - question - does anyone here suffer from Fibromytosis?
I went to GP this morning after 2 and half weeks off work with tinnitus, migraines, aches, fatigue hearing problems, dizziness, pain from head to toes and it's made my depression hit rock bottom....
I used to be able to walk 10-12 miles a day - no problem...also played tennis, went horseriding, played basketball and did lots of other aerobic fitness including kickboxing....now I can barely walk for any longer than half an hour....

she thinks it may be Fibromyalgia - blood tests previously done came back normal, rheumatology appointment not found anything abnormal...

if anyone else here has been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I would love to hear from you

Thanks

Nic:)

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia by my doc as ive been having your problems for years.
A rheumatologist is usually the person to diagnose you with this by listening to your symptoms and by pressing certain points on your body.
The rheumatologist that i went to see said i didnt have it but he was crap because he didnt actually test me, so im still in the dark to whether i have or not.

I'm lucky that I work in hospital testing balance and hearing and had my hearing tested and is exactly the type of hearing loss someone with Fibromyalgia has - so went straight to GP and told her that's what I think is wrong and she agreed! Thank the lord there are some good GP's and consultants out there - you need to ask for a 2nd opinion and read up on the symptoms...

ive got all the symptoms but usually you need to be diagnosed by a rheumatologist as they are the one that are skilled to check the tender points that usually prove that you have it, but mine didnt bother.

Hiya Baileys

Frustrating when you dont seem to be getting the propper tests eh but I'm sure of you were referred to a rheumatologist they would have tested all areas if they though you could have had it afer discussion of symptoms etc.

Saying that Fibro can be very hard to diagnose and a lot of it's symptoms are exactly the same as other more normal illnesses and also those caused by stess/anxiety so I can see why you think you may have it.

I know of a lady who actually has it and it took almost two years for her to be diagnosed and it was a rheumatologist who finally found it.

She was in constant pain and could hardly walk.. she now has steroid injections and other medication and whilst it apparently can't be cured it has eased a lot of the pain associated with it so at least she is up and about now.

One thing to look out for is swollen joints and very tender spots with almost constant and widespread pain in joints or other body areas which can include problems walking etc. Also if you gently bump yourself it really really hurts.

I'm sure you have already googled all the other symptoms too but like I said if you were referred to a specialist rheumatologist and they didnt find anything then maybe you dont have it after all.

I'm at the point were even washing the pots can give me horrendous backache...housework is a no go at the moment but I keep trying as it's driving me mad not being able to function at 100% like I used to....
