Ringing in ears?

For the past few hours or so I've had a ringing in my ears. What could be causing this? If I stick my fingers in my ears it gets louder. Can it be dangerous?

I have had ringing in my ears for years constantly. Have you been exposed to loud music or loud environments recently?

Err, I went to a party on Saturday. That's about it though.

Could be that and you've only just noticed it? The trouble with ringing in your ears is that once you have tuned into he noise, it's very hard to ignore it. SOmetimes my ears just ring loudly for no reason, like sinus issues etc can cause this. I doubt it's anything to worry about though.

It's called tinnitus and is rarely anything serious. If it doesn't go away by tomorrow make an appointment with your GP as it may be due to sinus problems etc.

EDIT: Btw, it could be from "raving" on Saturday night, yes.
