Has anyone tried the book Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Dummies (from "the Dummies" range) which is meant to be easy to understand, non scary and straighforward. This can be bought from Amazon. I read an article and this book was recommended for people starting on CBT.

I have this book and can only say I think it's excellent. I have had alot of CBT before I brought this book though but this book goes into CBT alot deeper than the therapist did which for me is great to help me understand it all. It also has alot of workbook exercises to work through the same as therapists give you to do. I find it very easy to understand and not scary at all.
