Comeing off citalopram!!!!!Scarey.

After 20 or more years Im comeing off citalopram.:ohmy:

I have been told I have PCOS and I need to lose some wieght.The citalopram are not helping matters,my wieght my metabolism ect.

I was on 60mg and now 50mg and then it will be 40 and so on.Im terrified.

My gp has told me it can take up to 2 years sometimes,Im scared as I have been on them so long and its time to cope without them!!!!:ohmy:

Has anyone else come off after being on so long.

Blimey, 20 years is a long time indeed. However, to look on the bright side, the withdrawal process should still be the same, albeit taking longer. I was on antidepressants for about 3-4 years and came off them in about 8 weeks.

I would say that as long as your GP is going to be sensible and helpful about it (and if he's saying it could take up to 2 years, it sounds as though he's not going to do anything rash to you), there's no reason why it shouldn't work.

The thing I noticed most about coming off antidepressants is that I felt more awake and alive.
