really worried

I've had a dry sore throat for about a week on and off, and last night while trying to check my throat I started gagging. I was gagging quite a lot and started being sick. I was sick quite a few times and the last wretch I had a little blood came out with it. It was a streak about two centimetres long and about half a centimetres wide. I'm really worried now as my throat still feels dry and because of the blood as this has happened to me before.

Don't worry about the blood - this is common when you vomit as you can burst small blood vessels with the force.

How were you checking your throat did you stick your fingers to far down? Is this why you were sick?

yeah, was using a lollipop stick in to push my tongue down which made me start gagging.

Ewwww sorry I have a fear of vomiting so there is no way id be able to do that.

Hope you feel reassured by the fact that its common to burst a blood vessel.
