hello

im filling this out for my dad he has advanced prostate cancer and is having anxiety problems. he was rushed into hospital about two weeks ago with a possible hart attack it turned out to be a bad anxiety attack, the hospital has put him on citalopram 10mg, with this he is getting hot pins and needles in waves all over his body, headaches and feels like poo are this side effects??? and will they go after time or should we phone the doctor????

Hi sorry to hear about your Dad .The citalopram could make his anxiety worse for a abt 3 weeks and the pins and needles is just a side effect .These will pass once it gets into the system .He may lose his appetite and feel sick and have insomnia too .These too are temporary .Make sure he drinks plenty of water based drinks and his medication is taken with or after food .It will help .Complan and Smoothies are a good source of vits to get him through if he does feel his appetite has gone .There is a Medication forum further down the page and a subforum for citalopram ,There are a lot of posts about this .You can always pm me if you need to know anything else .Hope things improve soon for you .T/c Sue
