Hi All
Thought I should introduce myself. I'm 21 and have been suffering with anxiety since being bullied at school from age 12, things started to get better after some counselling and i had been leading a 'normal' life upto two years ago when the anxiety started to come back along with panic attacks. I've been waiting 7 months to see a counsellor and have been told its going to be another 5 months so i thought i'd see what I could do in the meantime and i came across this fantastic site. Hope to be able to get some good advice and hopefully help others, its good to know i'm not alone. Byee for now Suzy :D

Hi Suzy!

Like yourself I was bullied at school. I've had a lot of other crap happen in the past and have therefore suffered with anxiety, panic attacks and depression for years (I'm 24 now). I used alcohol and e's charlie etc to make me feel confident round people and since quitting all that, the panics are worse, but I stay strong (not many of my friends know how I really feel).

I've just started citalopram. Hopefully that will help me. medication is not always the answer but sometimes it can help, with extra support!

Don't feel alone, you'll get through it!

Hi Suzy,

Welcome to the site I hope you find the help you need here and you are able to help others. It is good in a sense that you recognise were your anxiety stems from as a lot of us suffers don’t It does help.

Have you maybe looked in to getting a private referral for counselling some counsellors on charge £25.00 per appointment so it isn’t that bad if you can afford it? Look up the nation association of counsellors in google and search there site for counsellors in your area.

Well if I can help you pm any time.

hi suzy
i also suffer from panic and anxiety attacks, since fainting in mcdonalds whilst pregnant 13 years ago would you believe lol
some i can deal with, others stop me in my tracks. im at my worst when im stressed.
im on anti-depressents which help take the edge off them and i carry a bottle of water everywhere i go..dont quite know what the water achieves lol but it seems to reassure me.
excersize helps, i find walking helps mine.
the waiting lists are terrible for conselling so maybe consider going private?
this site is wonderful and is already helping me..just remember that your not alone.
