Hi Jono, Welcome to the site and don’t worry about this it’s a common problem with anxiety same as over breathing. It’s imposable to forget to breathe just look at when you are sleeping? Or when someone goes into a coma they can be unconscious for years and still breathe. The Doctor will put your mind at rest anyway, but don’t worry it’s just the anxiety trying to scare you. Hope you feel better soon. Vernon

I felt that way many times.
You think you won't be able to breathe, its just a worry in itself, a thought. Its not actually gonna happen, its just a negative belief.
Breathing is a body function that does not need to be conscious about, think how you r breathing during sleep?!
Hope that helps.

Florence.

Thanks for your replies :)

I think whats not helping is my nosal holes are really small!

So when i try to breathe in through them in dosen't go in 'fast' and it goes in very slow and warm.

Then i panic and mouth breathe and then the rest is history lol.

Thanks again.

How old are you ? your nostrils have been well big enough all the previosu years to keep you going and have nothing to do with it at all , besides if you were short of air all that would happen is that you'd take an extra breath as needed

Your body is far beter at regulating itself than you are giving it credit for .

No you cannot forget to breathe either, its an involantary thing , you don't have ultimate control over it but it would be beneficial for you to go to yoga and learn correct breathing techniques

Jono,

I think it's a good thing you can't breathe too fast because that always gets me into trouble. Anxiety can make you feel all kinds of terrible things. I know it's hard but if you focus too much on it - it just makes it worse. Try and do something anything and you will see that you are breathing. I'm sure the dr. will help you with your anxiety. Good luck!
