hey
havnt been on here for ages, at the moment im 35 weeks pregnant and my heart seems to be beating really quick for no reason what so ever. been happening more in the last few days. they noticed when they did my bp but didnt say anything about it
im feeling really weak and generally off and weird. theyve also just took me off my propranalol. they cut me down to 10mg so didnt think it would effect me when i came off but i dunno weather its got anything to do with it?
i keep thinking theres something wrong with my heart and im not guna make it through labour, am getting really scared. as i had high bp in my last pregnancy. its been ok so far this time, but i think the propranalol was making it ok, and now ive come off its guna happen again.
just really need someone to talk to about this, and if anyone else can put my mind at rest or been through the same thing or something simular? i feel like crying cuz i just dont know what to think.

I believe the mothers heart speeds up to help move blood around her and the babies. I can understand it's scary, but if the nurse didn't say anything then it's normal. I would imagine that having high BP in previous pregnancy will be on your notes, so they will be looking out for that.

Congratulations on your pregnancy Jobear!!, i'm sure you will be fine through labour, the midwifes and doctors will monitor all thats going on and may intervene IF there is a problem but mums heartbeat does usually beat faster because of the baby, your body is working for two and your coming to the end of your pregnancy too so weakness/tiredness is understandable, Try to relax and get as much rest as possible before little one arrives, Hope all goes well for you

Take care

Having had a baby not too long ago myself I can remember feeling exactly how you did. Like others have said your heart is pumping extra blood around your body. Faster heartbeat and palpitations are very very common. Blood pressure rises naturally towards the end of pregnancy too regardless of whether you've had high blood pressure before or not. Mine was high at the end and I'm normally 120/70.

You will struggle to breathe as your baby is taking up so much room in your body, your organs are all squished up into unnatural positions.

I think you're fine and you need to try and keep calm and relax. Have you got any relaxation cds? I had one, I think it was by natal hynotherapy, which really helped me relax and was very calming. Cost about £5 - 10. Well worth it.

Good luck!

How are you doing Leann? It doesn't seem like five minutes since you said you were pregnant!

This is the website:
http://www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk/

I got this one:
http://www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk/11.html

There is a huge box set but obviously that's more money.

There's also this one which I just discovered I might get myself:

Don't worry. I am 28 weeks pregnant and actually have a heart complaint (I have a pacemaker, and ongoing issues with tachycardia). So I have been monitored, and my cardiologist (very respected, top specialist London hospital) says that your heart working harder and therefore speeding up is nothing to worry about, completely normal. Last time they checked my pacemaker for a 3 month check it had recorded hundreds of rates higher than 150 bpm: they are only worried if it carries on AFTER I have the baby, but during pregnancy it's normal.

My trick is to get my husband to check my pulse when I am feeling calm, watching TV or something. If the rate is ok (say less that 120) I don't worry.

The one thing you can watch out, according to my cardiologist, is dizziness. If you feel faint, or do faint, that is the time to call your GP or midwife.
