Hi

My name is James. I am 31 years old and live in Norfolk.
I have had severe Social Anxiety and General Anxiety for as long as I can
remember.
I haven't worked for 9 years and for a period of about 4 years I didn't leave
my house or meet anyone if I hadn't had a drink first.
I managed to overcome the drinking (I do sometimes have a drink but it's very
rare) and improve myself to the point where I would answer the door or phone.
This was thanks to some very nice people who worked in mental health in my area.

At the moment I haven't progressed beyond what I have mentioned above. I still
don't work and very rarely go out. I'm going to try very hard to push myself to
the next level.

I have joined a few other related sites (even posted a number of times on one)
but have always stopped posting because the fear takes over and I feel that I
have nothing of value to say. I am determined not to do this again and I am
looking forward to getting to know you all.

Pleased to hear that you are making some progress and yes joining sites like this WILL help.That's brilliant that you have had some good help from your local mental health team but in the end it's mostly down to you and sounds to me you've got the right attitude to battling anxiety keep up the good work and good luck.

Im like you with these sites, i write a few posts then wonder why im bothering because nobody will be interested in what ive got to say.
But for some reason im finding this site different for me and i seem to be staying here.
For me its a lack of self worth but its doing me good sticking around.
