Panic 52 - please try and calm down.

How long have you had the nose bleed for? If it has been for a long time, you should ring NHS direct for advice or go to nearest A&E for assistance.

If only for a short time, you need to try and keep calm - panicking makes the blood pump more and the nose bleed continues. Grab a bag of peas or ice cubes from the freezer and hold them over the bridge of your nose to see if you can get the vessel to seal.

Is there anyone with you who can help and try to calm you down and stop the bleed?

Panic 52 - do you have more than one thread running on this????

Look, it is now Monday and you have not had a bleed since Saturday - try not to keep dwelling on it - worry about it when you have it not in anticipation of having one.

If the hospital were concerned they would have given you specific advice upon your discharge.

Take care

If you haven't had one since then I wouldn't worry about it

I wrote a really detailed reply but it disappeared as the threads must have been merged while I was doing it :-(

Basically nose bleeds are common at this time of year because the cold and central heating makes the nasal membrane dry out and become prone to rupturing. Happens to me quite a bit (nothing so far this winter tho :-) - loads last year)

You only need to worry about nose bleeds if they become really regular or one doesn't stop after a long time.

Even if you bring clots down aswell ?

I'm not sure about clots - if you only had one nose bleed and nothing since you really don't need to worry. Especially as you were at the hospital at the time, I'm sure the doctors would have been concerned if there was any reason to be.

You will get what appear to be clots (as they will be covered with blood) if you have suffered a heavy cold because, to be quite blunt, it is the snot that is getting out.

My children both have suffered from heavy nosebleeds throughout the years and have seen ENT specialists who could find nothing more than congestion issues.

I would say that with this weather and lots of heating being on in places plus the number of colds etc circulating that this is the most probable cause of your bleed.

:)

If you had the nose bleed a few days ago and the doc at the hospital said it was nothing to worry about then it's nothing to worry about! If it hasn't bled since then it was probably nothing. We all get nose bleeds from time to time with no reason!

Unless your having nose bleeds very regularly I would suggest there is nothing to worry about, the membrane in the nose can get weak and this causes the nose bleed. I get them and the clot thong you mention is just dried blood at the back of the nose when the blood tries to congeal. I have had this too.

It certainly has with mine in the past as you know snot ( for lack of a better word ) runs down the back of our throat most of the time mix this with blood from a nose bleed and you get clots that you can spit out!

Why are you worrying if you haven't had on since and the doctors in the hospital say it was nothing to worry about?

It has nothing to do with the bang on your head and you would be getting nose bleeds all the time if there was something wrong.

They let you out of hospital so they are not worried either.

Please try to forget about it and move on now.

Hi.

The docs have reassured you, you have had lots of reassurance here so that should help put your mind at rest.

Nosebleeds are a common thing, I had one this morning (have got a viral thing) and they are absolutely harmless.

Try and concentrate on something else rather than focusing on this all the time.
