This is a very good site so I thought I'd pop in and say hi :)

I have depression and anxiety, which I have suffered from most of my adult life. It manifests itself mostly at work in anxious moments and panic attacks.[Ugh]

I am wondering if others suffer similar things at work and if so how do they cope with panic, feelings of being overwhelmed etc.

In the past when these feelings have gripped me I have just resigned and found another position. This time I am determined not to repeat the past.

Any advice welcome :)

Hi and welcome

Its partially about finding what your triggers are and leaning how you can talk yourself down from anxiety so it doesn't escalate to panic . If you have a perfectionist trait it tends to rise quicker

Welcome Aboard, Antares

Do you enjoy your job and the people around you? Is it the stress, or is it something else you can't fathom?

I do enjoy my job and the people I work with.

I have perfectionist traits and I expect too much of myself too soon I think.
It is a case of all or nothing behaviour with me.

I try and rush things in order to get them done quicker and of course thats when mistakes creep in.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum I have experienced similar traits with my depression and panic attacks at work. I did for a long time deal with them by just letting them pass, don’t think I had a technique if I did I don’t remember (“sorry”).

Sadly my anxiety and depression got too much for me at Christmas and I resigned a bit like you may have done. After this it gradually got worse with a lack of daily activities to keep me occupied. I have now been put on anti depressants one thing I didn’t want but that’s what I need to cope I guess.

Well I do hope things work out for you and please don’t resign because in my experience I just make’s things worse in the long run.

Good Luck.

Robert ;)
