I had that before about two weeks ago. It had to be some form of anxiety and tension. It went away the next day.

Classic anxiety headaches are - a tight band around the temples and the feeling of a heavy wieght on the top of the head which can make it sore to the touch.
The stabbing pains are probably head zaps which is also anxiety - I get these from time to time and they stop me in my tracks they are so painful.
Try relaxing your upper back, shoulder and neck - tension in these areas will cause horrible headaches.

I get these all the time and believe me it is anxiety although they do frighten you when you get them.
