Can sniffing ammonia or undereating cause the flu ?
Influenza, or ‘flu’, is a acute viral infection. It typically starts suddenly with fever, chills, headache, aching muscles and a cough or other respiratory symptoms.

So my answer is that it is highly unlikely.

Can you get a fever quickly ?
Every person's temperature varies slightly, but the average is 37°C (98.6°F). Various things influence body temperature for example activity, environmental temperature and infection.

So my answer is yes, fever can arrive quickly but disappear in just the same way. Paracetamol is a great remedy for high temperature.

Can you get Pneumonia quick?
Pneumonia means that there is an infection or inflammation in the lung tissue. It starts in the same way as a cold, but gets worse from there.

So my answer is no, it usually starts life as a cold and gets worse.

Mind you - I'm not a doctor, so I could be wrong.

Like Liz says I think most of these are viruses that you catch so you can't just get them by sniffing anything or under-eating.

Why do you have these concerns May?
