Hi, I'm new here. Took sertraline for 18 mths and came off v gradually with no side effects and despite feeling fine initially, I have since suffered major setback and v distressed and tearful, full of paranoid thoughts about people.

I'm just wondering is there anyone here who has taken sertraline long term, come off it and felt ok? My doctor originally told me it was like topping up a car battery, but I feel sertraline only helps me with my symptoms.

I am probably going to go back on it this week as I see no other way. I've tried everything.

Thanks

hi I've been on sertraline for nearly 10 years now and have in that time reduced it by 100mg so that I'm now taking 100mg a day. I'm OK at the moment pretty stable but not stable enough to try to reduce the dose any. My Doc doesn't seem to have a problem with me staying on it long term as he says it's an OK drug in terms of long term use so my view is....if you can come off it and feel OK fantastic but if you come off it and find yourself slipping back don't feel bad about going back on it
Hope you find relief best wishes
