Hi,
I was just wondering what your opinions on Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and anxiety are.
I have been reading up about this and it seems that quite a few people who suffer with anxiety have in fact got problems with thier blood sugar levels.
The symptoms of anxiety and hypoglycemia are pretty much the same.
I do have a very poor diet and wouldn't at all be suprised if i was suffering blood sugar problems.
Do any of you have blood sugar problems?
What do you think about the link between the two?
I dunno, maybe i am just being over anxious again and looking for another reason for my problems.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Poppy

A huge definate link .

And even if you are generally ok with it, whe you are acutely anxious you can develop a temporary issue with it

I was convinced I had low blood sugar and got so obsessed with it that I was always having to eat just in case.

A few weeks ago it was getting out of hand and I bought a blood sugar level machine to check it myself.

Once again the tests proved "normal" but I feel better for checking! I have done lots of readings at various times especially if I have felt faint before eating but they were all within the normal range.

Guess for me its my thoughts.

Hi Poppy, I havnt got any problems with sugar levels I have had so many blood tests and dont seem to be any trouble, but I do notce If I have been bussy I become very nervy and dizzy in the afternoon time, Meg told me to try and eat a little snack and this works for me. Ususaly I am quite shaky and dizzy just before dinner time but it soon goes after I have eaten a little. Take care. Vernon

Most definately a link between the two and they feel so similiar too.

I never use chocolate as a quick fix anymore if I am out shopping - I try and see if I can get a banana or a flapjack although I do try and eat properly before I even go shopping these days.

A good diet is probably for me the first thing I would suggest to anyone getting anxiety/panic attacks.

"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.

Yep I suffer from both. The best way I've found is to eat low GI foods and to have both morning and afternoon tea as well as the usual meals,Eat plenty of vegs , fruit and nuts and no junk food

Hello,

I was having problems with my blood sugar. I had terrible anxiety and it was linked to how I was eating. I changed my diet to the low gi diet and feel much better. I still have some anxiety but not like before I went on the diet. It took about 3 months on the diet to feel better though. I lost 30 pounds also! I mainly gave up all refined sugar and white flour and eat 6 times a day small low gi foods. Thats all I did. Here is a good book to go a long with the diet.. but I eat more red meat than it suggests.
