Hello all! Wow! I am so glad that I have finally found this site, it is amazing!!

I have suffered with panic attacks, anxiety and depression for about 8 years now, and i have had enough! I am tired of simply existing, I want to actually enjoy life! [Sigh...] It would be so nice to wake up in the morning and really look forward to the day ahead instead of having to map the whole day out to be sure of where i have to go and when and with whom.

It would be great to meet like minded people to share advice and support.......we can all do it with a little help i'm sure! :)

Hi Lyla, welcome to the forum you will find lots of help and support here. I suffered in silence for years until I found this site and realised that I wasn't alone. I too was sick of just existing but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can come through the other side even though it can take along time. I still get anxiety symptoms and feel depressed at times but I know that I can beat it I will not let it get the better of me again. I am due to give birth to my third child in 3 weeks and am terrrified of having a panic attack while in labour and of getting postnatal depression again but I have beat it once and just have to beleive I can beat it again should the worst happen. I am going to go back on my antidepressants as soon as I have had my baby just as a precaution as the doctors say I have a 1 in 3 chance of it returning and I am definately not taking any chances this time. Before I had my son in 2000 I didn't know much about anxiety and depression and didn't believe I even had it as I had all these horrible symptoms that I thought I was dying of some horrible illness and it took me a long time to accept that they were anxiety related but luckily I found this site and realised how common anxiety/panic attacks and depression are and it helped me so much and I will be eternally greatful for all the help and support I received and I am sure it will help you too.
Take care and just remember that you don't have to go through this alone.
Love Lisaxx

Hi Lyla,

Welcome to NMP. I've been a panic/anxiety sufferer for just 12 months now. I don't know what I'd have done if I hadn't found this site. Its so reassuring & the people are wonderful.

Hope it helps.

Hi anonymous

It doesn't matter how old you are, if your suffering from panic attacks then this is the place to get support ... try some deep calm breathing to help with the dizziness

to help with your exams you should
Do revision is short bursts rather than a long haul
Get plenty sleep the night before so you feel alert
Eat some breakfast (however small) on the morning of the exam
Drink plenty of water
Talk to your friends who are taking the same ones as you
Make sure you know what time they are and where you have to go so that you are on time for them

And most of all ... go in with the attitude that you will do your best ... NO ONE can ask more than that from you ... attempt all answers even if its just a guess ... a blank answer will get no marks but a guess might be right

It may help to talk to your teachers especially if there is a subject that you are not sure about

Good luck with them

Lylakwine,
I know exactly what you described about plannign your day, that is exactly how I 'live' when i'm feeling anxious and now during the school holidays are the worst because i judge my days on whether i've spoken to people, socialised, so when I haven't I feel more depressed.
But Hopefully, and you sound like you have hope it will get better.
