Hey,

Please i really need help :(

Really Really Bad today for some reason. I feel SO out of breath like when you hold your breath i just cant breathe!. Im going to the doctors tomorrow afternoon again (he told me to come back from last week when he wasnt as busy to have proper check).

I honestly feel i cant breathe. But its weird it dosen't feel like im dying like it did yesterday. SO Out of breath at the moment. I walked round town and was breathing so hard. Ive been trying to do it from my stomach but i cant when im standing. My stomach is going the other way round its going in and im only using my chest which makes things worse.

I feel ****ing horrible, Sorry for the french but i cant take this anymore. I can NOT live my life like this. Im 16 for gods sake.

When i do the 7/11 thing when i breath in for 7 and breath out for 11 and the 9 second breath out (if you get me) i feel like you do when you hold your breath for as long as possible and have to get a few quick breaths to level out to 'out of breath' feeling again.

This is the worst day ive had in ages. Why? Am i getting worse? Am i developing a disease of some kind :(.

Thanks for everyones help,

-Jono

Its easier said than done I know but try not to worry. Its just the classic symptoms of anxiety. There have been loads of posts on here about breathing problems but I dont know how to put in the links. Have a look around.

Hang on in there until tomorrow and your doc will check you out and put your mind a rest.

Take care

Hi there,

I understand how bad you are feeling - when i had the breathing thing it lasted for months and it was awful. I could never believe that it was caused by anxiety (it was) and i was always convinced i was going to die (i didn't).
I know it's easier said than done, but you should keep reminding yourself that, however short of breath you still are, YOU ARE STILL BREATHING. You are not going to stop breathing altogether.

Hi Jono

This is a common anxiety symptom and I hope seeing the doctor will help to reassure you.

The important bit about the 7/11 breathing technique is to make the out breath longer than the in breath. So this could be in for 5 and out for 7, or in for 4 and out for 6 etc. Find a count that is comfortable for you.

There is some further information in these posts:
