Hi Everyone.

Just really worrying I guess. Went to the drs basically for like a smear test :scared15: . Was so scared about the whole thing, don't know why. Well she did things like get undressed blah blah, and she sort of said relax, I think she was looking first she then said. Oh I can't see your cervix (I thought WHAT! and felt really embarrassed). Then she found it and said oh there is some blood on your cervix and then mentioned something about reffering me to the gynecologist or something. Now im really worrying, plus my dr is trying to get me to have the minera coil , which I don't like the sound of really.

Its cos im like spotting all of the time and things and she said you will have no periods. hmm. I don't know, im just so worried and very anxious. I am worrying incase I have the dreaded C word and things.

Oh I don't know, hmmmm. Perhaps I shouldn't have written this or whatnot. hmm.

Anita. :scared10::sad:

am I right in thinking you are perimenopausal - in your late 30's or 40's??

Spotting is very very common at this stage and is due to hormone imbalance. It is usual for Gps to refer you to gyny just so they can completely rule out the spotting being from anything sinister 99.9% of the times its your hormones.

I personally would not rush into having a mirena coil fitted as they can have significant side effects and are of course an synthetic hormone same as used in HRT but it is your choice of course. I know people how have had dreadful side effects and had to have it removed but also one friend who had it fitted and is fine and period free. We are all different.

Hi,

Thanks for replying to my post. Perimenopausal ? I don't think so, im only 34 and on the cerazette pill, as I can't really take the other ones. I don't really want the coil, have read online about too many side effects and things. Anyways if I did happen to become pregant I actually wouldn't mind.

I am really anxious for some reason, its always on my mind. Can't seem to stop thinking about things. hmmm.

its very common to spot on cerezette. A friend of mine just came off it and went on the injection instead.

Also you will mostly have no periods on cerezette as this is one of the functions of it. I was put on cerezette to stop my periods at one point. Thing is many women still get occasional and out of the blue bleeds on it as well as odd discharge

Its also common to bleed constantly on and off when on cerezette for the first few months.

Is this why she is wanting you to get the coil? I dont know much about it but If you dont want it then dont get it. It doesnt sound like your dr explained things very well to you.

I would book another appointment and ask her to clarify what she meant and also discuss cerezette and if this could be the cause of the bleeds. If she feels that you should see a gynea then do. And like I said it is likely that you will not get any periods on cerrezette but if you come off it your periods will go back to a normal monthly cycle as mine did

As for contraception Im a big believer in the old fashioned condom..no hormones :) I have never ever had a pregnancy scare whilst using them and have never had one break. But if you are not bothered if it did then stuff hormones and get a regular cycle back!

If you dont want to use the coil then dont

Hi Verity.

Many thanks for replying to my post. I was hopeing for the spotting and things to calm down, it doesn't.

Mind I haven't had a proper period for a while, I have the odd days where there are clots and things but that lasts for a day or two. I still get the horrible back pain and tummy pain mind, as if I am having my period.

I was put on cerazette to like control my periods and things as I had very irregular periods I could go for months without one and then all of a sudden I could be on my period for weeks on end. I think my dr has some thing about contraception and that. No idea why. My dr did say oh the coil is great and you don't get any periods or whatnot, apart from the first few months or so.

I suppose im being silly worrying over this, not sure why im worrying more than I should. Just can't help it.

Perhaps you are being sent for a scan on your ovaries? I was suffering from spotting, and this is what they did for me, I had a cyst on my ovary but by the time I went for my next scan it had gone. Looking into polycystic ovary syndrome, it is relatively harmless, but can send your hormones crazy and also you will have irregular periods, may cause weight gain and hair growth etc. does this sound like you?

Hi,

Just an update really. Nothing much to say I guess. I went to see the drs today and I sort of questioned about last time I saw her. She couldn't take the smear cos she couldn't see the cervix clearly and there was blood on the cervix( but hmmm there was on blood on the toilet tissue or sanitary towel ) I would have classed that as period free. She said she couldn't take the test hmmm. Oh well, she forgot to refer me to see the gyney, hmmm im a little anxious however for some reason. Not sure really but it did show, she said there was nothing to worry about, hmmmm.

I am off the cerazette now, until I see the specialists I guess. Its a case of wait and see. hmmmm.
