It's taken me a bit of time to write something as I have always tried to deal with my nervous problems myself - probably a mistake. It helps a bit just to be able to talk about things.

I work as a musician and that is a very unsettling sort of lifestyle. I guess I was always a nervous sort of person as well and seem to have had all sorts of weird symptoms as a result. Years ago it started when I had stroke-like symptoms; tingling and heaviness in my leg and all up my right side into my head. it even affected my speech. Also I was plagued with a rapid heart beat and lots of extra (ectopic) beats - hamless they said but scary.

More recently I was dragged twice into hospital with strong palpitations and kept in for a couple of weeks while they ran all sorts of tests and tried to do this op that Tony Blair had.....all to no avail. Again my heart seems to be ok but I am now taking flecainide tablets against palpitations.

I've had a lot of health scares over the last two years which I won't go through but I think these have just made me worse. This year I had Bells Palsy which blew up on Christmas Eve (temporary paralysis of the side of the face) again possibly due to stress or a virus. It totally knocked me out and I didn't leave the house for 6 weeks. I was totally freaked out and started having tremors and muscle spasms at night and then the swallowing thing started. I am more relaxed now but I still can't swallow properly. My doc has arranged a barium swallow for me next week "just in case" and now I'm worrying about that. My neck is stiff and painful on the right side down from my ear and then you start thinking perhaps it's something else.

I am making it sound like my whole life is this stuff. It's not like that but it's really heavy at the moment.

I just need someone to say something nice.

Hi Martyn. Im really new to this but just read your posting and you are the first person to describe excactly how I feel.

My attacks have turned into stroke like symptoms always left hand side whole side of my body goes numb. I have found that my mouth tends to go first. like I have no sensation and its dropping if that makes sense.

Panic Tension Anxiety etc make our mind and body do the weirdest things. You are not alone. May be Im not the best person to talk to but im here if you need to talk. I completely understand.

If you are on flecanide and had an attempted ablation then it's unlikely to be just a few ectopics that you're dealing with. You do have a cardiac dysrhythmia which is now being treated with medication or even going for another ablation later on.

A very different issue from anxiety induced ectopics.

Your neck thing and even your throat is likely to be residual stuff from the Bells palsy as the nerves affected may take a good while to settle themselves.

It doesn't sound like you have a health anxiety but do have medical conditions that you are getting treated and will cause you less problems in the future and you are being completely appropriate in your concerns.

Hi Martyn, some sound advice from Meg there. Hopefully, that should put your mind at rest. Things like Bells Palsy do take time to settle down & with anxiety on top of that, could take a little while longer than expected. Don't worry too much, you are getting the right treatment & the advice you will gain from this sight will be so reassuring & helpful to you.

Take care.
